WIP

I have quilt 4 and 8 almost finished.  These are the last two for the QAK quiltography exhibit.  They are all due next week.  The Mountain Scene  for  piece four was photographed by Carol Rice Cain  photo4original

Turned sideways I saw a woman.  The quilting still has to be finished.  I couldn’t find the right color in my stash for her dress so I colored a pastel pic of fabric with a combination of stained by sharper, Marvey Fabric Markers and tsukineko inks.

The last piece is Red Lamps by Helen MaClatchy

Here is a full shot and a close up of my piece.  Still have to quilt the bricks.

New Quiltography Piece

This is the inspiration photo4b resizephoto for piece 6 of the 8 quiltography pieces Quilt Artists of KY are doing in conjunction with the Lexington Photography Club.

I decide to make my piece a monochromatic piece.  I chose blue. I put the picture in photoshop, recolored and then use posterized to reduce the color and image complexity.

Next I chose 10 shades of denim, and made sure to put a jeans needle on my machine.

Here are some pictures of work in progress and my mess.

Finally my finished piece.  I just decided to quilt it with a free motion zigzag and invisible thread.

Quiltography Photo 6

I still have not decided on an idea to go with photo 4, but decided to move on to photo 5 and 6.  Photo 6 is  a part of a rusted out car.  I decided to make some people like characters out of metal and old car parts to accompany the car.

photo6 The above photo is the inspiration.  I have not decided on how to do the eyes on the first man.  The fabric is some of my older rust dyed fabrics. Here is the start of my piece. Just trying things out.

Grape Picking

DFeganGrapePickingQuiltography3This quilted piece is for the QAK quiltography 2015-2016 challenge.  This is piece number three based on the photo below provided by the Lexington photography club.  For my interpretation, I gave the girl red hair to represent the red from the leaves.  After quilting and attaching to my canvas I added leaves.  The leaves are made from fussed fabric and quilted then hand sewn to the quilt.

Quiltography 2015 – Entry 2

Here is a picture of my second piece for the Quilt Artists of KY Quiltography.   Mine is rust dyed and appliquéd.  I also used Profab opaque paint for the blue areas.

Amure – Finished

The amure has been finished for several weeks but I hadn’t had time to post.  After all the thread painting the quilt was anchored to a 1/2 inch canvas that is painted black.  The final touch was a few cat whiskers donated by a friend.   You can not really see these in the photo.  The ones that show are couched threads.
