QAK, Quilt Artists of Kentucky, and the Lexington Camera Club have a joint exhibit at Christ Church Cathedral in Lexington. Last year photos taken by the club were issued to QAK members, who interpreted the images into their own 12 x 12″ quilts. Now they will be displayed for everyone to see! Come check them out while you can (last day of the exhibit is Jan. 1)!

Finish Up Friday —- Grow Your Blog Party.

Well, I was so excited about sewing the hexagons earlier that I didn’t notice that I stitched the rows wrong until after they were pieced.  So I’ve been putting off cutting out more hexagons. Ahhh!! Plus I dImageidn’t have quite enough fabric left.  Well I took all the hexagons with the precut foundation templates fused and turned, apart, Ironed and recut.  I have just enough to  remake my block.  Yeah!   Plus since this was such tedious job, I watched a few episodes of the Quilt Show on line.   That made it quite a fun day.

Valentine’s Day!  Have not done a thing.  Not even a card.  My husband is going to the ballgames tonight to watch some of his students play.  I am going to quilt and finish up the veggie soup.  Tomorrow we might go out to eat.

Grow Your Blog Party !!!!!  I will be drawing late this evening and posting the winner of my Nifty Fifty give-a-way.

I will also finish hand sewing the binding on my mug rugs for the Quilting Gallery Mug Rug swap.  My daughter likes them so much I have to make a second set fro her.  I won’t post until my exchange partner gets them.

Above you can see the size of the 2″ dolls compared to my keyboard. I’ve been slowly satin stitching the Matryoshka dolls.  Now I really wish I had done the blanket stitch on them.  I am debating on whether or not this would be okay.  I was thinking as long as the dolls in each square were appliquéd the same it would not matter.   Any opinions?E blockresized

Matryoshka Dolls – Almost ready to embellish

I’ve been cutting an fusing doll bodies from my 66 fabrics.  The faces were a bit of a challenge.  I it in paintshop pro and then resized it to fit the dolls.  Ran out of size five and printed too many fours.  Seriously though I found a great way to finally get my fabric though the printer.  First I painted my fabric with golden digital clear gloss.  When the fabric dried it was fairly stiff.  Next I fused wonder under to the back.  I just love how easily it went through my printer.  Here’s pictures of some of my dolls that are waiting for satin stitching and lots of embellishments.  Sorry about the quality, Some were pinned together and I just flipped them up.  Lots of shadows too.  Now off to sew!

Studio Mess and Matryoshka Dolls

My studio is already a disaster area and it’s only the beginning of February.  I actually had my 4 by 8 cutting table cleaned off for half a day.  Cutting out the Matryoshka Dolls really made a mess.  The boarder of the quilt is cut from 66 different fabrics, which are used in the dolls.  Other fabrics and embellishments will be used for the center of the dresses.  Here’s a bit of my work in progress.
